Activities taken in whole project!

The project aim is to promote the association's leading specialists in stable operation, their knowledge and skills, which will increase the administrative capacity and ensuring the stability of societies and growth. It will offer young people a lot of new ways to improve ourselves and how to better engage in the democratic process, as well as help the organization attract new members and followers.

  • Organized two publicity events and sent out 17 press releases in the media
  • A new association logo and redesigned website http://jauniesudome.lv  and in collaboration with the local government createn Ventspils youth portal http://jauniesi.ventspils.lv informing young people about different opportunities for young people in Ventspils, Latvian, Europe and the World
  • Trainer association professionals and volunteers
  • 9 meetings were held with the school self-government leaders and take part in one of Ventspils City Council for Youth Affairs Committee meetings
  • There have been four expert discussions
  • Organized two youth forums with deputies, experts and young people's participation
  • Prepared and submitted to the Ventspils City Council recommendations for Ventspils Youth House and the creation of youth entrepreneurship and employment problems
  • Together with the local government designed and implemented Youth house Creating where would be free space for NGO's work
  • Delegation contract signed into between the Ventspils City Council and Ventspils City Council for Youth in tasks in youth work and youth home management
  • Experience exchange trips to youth centres and houses in  Zemgale, Riga and several cities in Kurzeme
  • Organized 25 trainings for school councils members where participated around 250 young people
  • Organized 51 trainings in school classes where participated more than 1,000 young people
  • The association has obtained the accreditation of the program "Erasmus +" as the volunteer sending organization, host and coordinating organization
  • The association is active in "Latvian Youth Council" and its top representative Emil Anškens elected as the organization's president
  • Society has become a "Eurodesk" information points
  • In addition to the financial attraction, have been written 7 projects of which four have been approved

 

Activities taken in 2015

2015 aims are to provide a variety of non-formal education opportunities for young people and successfully defend the interests of young people in Ventspils municipality.

  • Continued peer educators program "Jaunietis – Jaunietim"with 20 young people
  • Organized training for school council members (around 110 young people participated) and for school clases (335 young people participated)
  • Organized youth forum with 50 participants
  • There have been meetings with school councils and leaders of Ventspils City Council for Youth Affairs Committee
  • There have been two expert discussions
  • Prepared and submitted to the Ventspils City Council recommendations for youth entrepreneurship and employment problems
  • Delegation contract entered into between the Ventspils City Council and Ventspils City Council for Youth tasks in youth work and Youth house management
  • Together with the local government designed and implemented Youth house Creating where would be free space for NGO's work
  • Experience exchange trips to youth centres and houses in  Zemgale, Riga and several cities in Kurzeme

Activities taken in 2014

The aim of this year was to develop youth democracy skills and successfully defend youth interests in Ventspils local government. Effective activity occurred in the field of non-formal education – during the year conducted 57 trainings about various topics important for youth. Research about youth life in Ventspils was worked out and on the basis of the research's results a campaign was made in order to promote youth initiative and non-formal education in the town. During the Ventspils Youth forum, youth together with members of Ventspils City government, agreed the necessity of Youth house in Ventspils. The Local government granted more than 100 000 EUR in order to insure the creating of Youth house.

During the 2014 these activities have been worked out:

  • Established peer -educator programme “Youth- to youth” (trained 20 peer- educators; created 7 non-formal education methods; in the trainings , managed by the peer-educators, participated more than 300 young people from Ventspils city and Ventspils region)

  • Organizes trainings for school self-government members ( participated more than 130 young people) and class collectives (participated about 500 young people)

  • Organized trainings for Society's members and volunteers

  • Organized Youth forum in which 500 participants were attending

  • Meetings with leaders of school self-governments and Ventspils City Council Youth Affairs Committee

  • Prepared and hand in recommendations about the development of youth work to Ventspils City Council

  • Implementing youth interests a closer cooperation with Ventspils government has been worked out:

    • during the 2015, Ventspils City government will conclude Delegation agreement with society “Ventsipils Youth Council” in order to develop work with youth

    • work planned together on creating Youth house

  • Occurred youth work exchange rides to Vidzemi, Latgali and others cities of Kurzeme

  • The Society accredited in programme “ERASMUS +” in the field of Europe's volunteer work as a volunteer sending organization, host-organization and coordinating organization

  • Provided activity of youth information center in the internet and social accounts;

  • Active work the “National Youth Council of Latvia”

  • Continued work in a “Eurodesk” information network programme

 

Activities taken in 2013

The aim of this year was to arrange the activities of the society “Ventspils Youth Council” for more rapid further development. For this purpose, multiple tasks were performed:

  • promoted stable and prductive activity of society's leading specielists and improved their knowledge and skills;

  • improved image of the society, theraby it is more more recognizable in the community;

  • defended youth rights in the local goverment;

  • information about the possibilities to take part in social processes offered to youth.

To achieve all the project goals, these activities were performed:

  • modernized society's logo and changed design of homepage www.jauniesudome.lv

  • meetings with leaders of school self-governments and Ventspils City Council Youth Affairs Committee;

  • prepared and handed in recommendations to Ventspils City Council about the development of work with youth;

  • provided acitivity of youth information center in the internet and social accounts;

  • society “Ventspils Youth Council” has become one of the “National Youth Council of Latvia” member organization;

  • started membership in “Eurodesk” information network programme;

  • organized trainings for society's members and volunteers;

  • organized trainings for class teams and leaders of school self-governments (250 people).

 

About the project

Society “Ventspils Youth Council” in cooperation with Ventspils Creativity house’s Youth club “Knaģis” have started the implementation of project “You can do more than you think!” . The aim of the project is to promote stable action of leading experts and improve their knowledge and skills, thereby raising administrative capacity and ensuring stability and development of the society.

An important activity of the project is to promote more successful cooperation with various non-governmental organizations, local and public authorities, whose activities influence Ventspils youth lives as well as development and implementation of youth policy in Ventspils.

Planned activities to achieve project objectives are: trainings, educational seminars and consultations for self-government participants of Ventspils educational institutions and their leaders. The subject of these activities will be youth policy and collaboration issues sustaining development of civil society.

The goal of training is to build youth awareness of democratic processes at all levels of public administration and to encourage young people to engage in the activity of these processes. During the trainings will be used non-formal education methods – games, discussions, group work, simulations. Self-government leaders also will have specific trainings on topics – how to work better and more sufficient in order to defend the interests of students in educational institutions.

During the project “Ventspils Youth Council” has intended to develop cooperation at national and international level by establishing contacts with youth from other organizations, taking part in international EuroDesk information network, and possibly even welcome foreigner youth in Ventspils to participate in voluntary service programmes.

Project “You can do more than you think” is financially supported by Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway EEA Grants Financial Mechanism for 2009. –2014. within NGO support program. The program is financed by EEA Grants Financial Mechanism and Latvia.
